20 Simple Wrinkle Fighters

Updated: Aug 15

Showing signs of aging happens. It's a natural process by which the collagen and elastin, that keep our skin looking firm and youthful, begin to decline, and results in wrinkles. Cell production and cell quality also diminish over time resulting in wrinkles. These factors unfortunately are out of our control, and while diet and supplements can slow down the process, it won’t stop it.

Have you ever wondered if there’s anything you can do to prevent your skin from showing signs of aging? While some things are not within your control, here are 20 easy ways to reduce wrinkles and slow down the aging process.

  1. Stop smoking (It’s #1 for a reason)

  2. Always wear sunscreen whether it’s cloudy or sunny

  3. Hydrate your skin by drinking about 8 glasses of water a day.

  4. Use skincare products that contain antioxidants.

  5. Moisturize the skin on your face twice daily.

  6. Reduce stress. (Try reading, exercising, meditating -- 15 minutes a day is a good start.)

  7. Avoid fragrances and any products that aren’t gentle on your skin. Irritation causes dryness and more damage.

  8. Eating a good diet with lots of healthy fats from olive oil, avocado and nuts are nourishing to the skin. Your skin loves antioxidant-rich fruits and veggies, and lean proteins, too.

  9. Sleep at least 8 hours every night.

  10. Eat fish three times a week. Great for the skin and general health.

  11. Check with your doctor about taking supplements, your diet may be lacking some of the important ones. We recommend a good Collagen supplement packed with vitamins, probiotics, enzymes, and nutrients.

  12. Use an eye cream for the delicate skin around the eyes nightly.

  13. Facial masks remove the build-up of dead cells that can increase the appearance of wrinkles. Try this at least weekly.

  14. Use natural skincare products that will nourish your skin and give it lots of vitamins and minerals to help it stay fresh and healthy.

  15. Wearing sunglasses will prevent squinting, and thus help prevent crow's feet.

  16. If your Collagen supplement doesn’t contain Vitamin C, take vitamin C supplements and use products that contain vitamin C, to help boost your collagen production.

  17. It's NEVER too late to start a good skincare routine -- even in your 20’s and your 60's. Prevention is easier than a cure.

  18. Eat the chocolate -- dark chocolate that is high in flavonoids. A European study found that a daily portion of dark chocolate could product the skin against the aging effects of the sun. The antioxidants that are naturally found in cocoa (mainly found in dark chocolate) are amazing for your skin and can help stimulate the collagen in your skin, which essentially prevents wrinkles.

  19. It's always good to wear something on your head that can help shield your face. Too much sun can cause an increase in UV radiation which attributes to sun damage. The sun damage then causes those unneeded wrinkles throughout our face.

  20. Limit your sugar intake as it can break down the collagen in your body and over time can make you look older
